Express Solicitors CEO, James Maxey, has made his debut in The Lawyer Hot 100 2025 with the prestigious list highlighting the huge growth of the firm he set up nearly 25 years ago, its award-winning training scheme and the multiple acquisitions he’s driven.

The list recognises the most adventurous, innovative and dynamic lawyers and encompasses barristers, private practice solicitors and in-house lawyers of all ages across the UK.

It celebrates their achievements and also predicts that these lawyers are the ones to watch and will shape the future legal landscape.

Maxey founded the Manchester-based personal injury law firm nearly 25 years ago and has nurtured it into the multi-million pound turnover business it is today; that ambitious growth strategy still a driving force behind the firm.

The past few years have seen seismic growth for Express. Staff count is nearly at 750, it boasts a multi-million-pound refurbished headquarters, there has been record breaking turnover year-on-year and the firm has received multiple awards including the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award for its outstanding graduate training programme.

The final Hot 100 is whittled down from a list of hundreds so marks a fantastic achievement.

Maxey said: “I’m thrilled to have been recognised in this year’s Hot 100 alongside so much amazing talent. It’s amazing to see how far Express has come in the past 25 years – we have an incredible team and there are many more exciting things yet to come and things I would like to achieve. We’ll be continuing to push boundaries and finding new ways to help as many injured people as possible.”
