More about Elizabeth Beckett

Elizabeth is a Partner who joined Express Solicitors in August 2021, having over 35 years of experience in the Personal Injury legal profession, dealing with various types of Personal Injury claims, predominately specialising in Employer Liability claims.

Prior to joining Express Solicitors, Elizabeth worked for a national Trade Union firm of Solicitors for over 30 years where she started her legal career as an office junior in 1985. Elizabeth secured several promotions throughout her career, culminating in a senior position as a Team Manager of 20 Lawyers handling Fast Track Personal Injury claims including Employer Liability, Public Liability and Occupiers’ Liability claims.

During her career Elizabeth has dealt with a mixture of claims, including those relating to breaches of the COSHH Regulations leading to the development of dermatitis due to contact with contaminated coolant; exposure to harmful fumes within the workplace such a chlorine exposure and lack of ventilation resulting in asthma.

In addition, Elizabeth has specialised in Work Relating Stress claims, bullying and harassment within the workplace in addition to Civil Assault claims.

Elizabeth has represented many individuals who have suffered injury in all types of general accidents which unfortunately occur all too often within the workplace due to a failure of employers adhering to Health and Safety Regulations.

Elizabeth prides herself in being professional, empathetic and approachable to her clients and always represents the injured party. She strives to achieve excellent results for individuals who have suffered injury through no fault of their own. Elizabeth is keen to secure the appropriate compensation for each client but appreciates how stressful the litigation process can be for a client and therefore, is keen to ensure claims are dealt with in a timely manner to achieve satisfactory and speedy resolution.

There are numerous cases which Elizabeth is particularly proud of the settlements achieved, not just in respect of the level of damages recovered, but also due to the complexity of the issues involved and the level of difficulty of the claims. In one such claim, Elizabeth represented a social worker employed by the Local Authority. It was alleged that the client had developed work related stress which prevented her from continuing what had been a successful and fulfilling career. Elizabeth initiated a civil claim against the employer alleging a breach of the duty of care and recovered compensation of a six-figure sum in an out of court settlement.

A further notable success involved a breach of the COSHH regulations within the workplace. The client was a swimming instructed employed by the Local Authority who it was alleged was exposed to harmful chlorine levels in the workplace causing the development of a respiratory condition which precluded her continuing her employment as a swimming instructor. Elizabeth secured evidence which significantly strengthened the merits of the claim thus resulting in an out of court settlement being reached with the employer and significant compensation in respect of future loss of earnings being recovered for her client.
