Jodie Flip Out Nurse

Nurse Jodie Wright has warned about the dangers of visiting trampoline parks after snapping her leg in a foam pit.

Jodie was visiting a Flip Out trampoline park in Preston with her partner and her partner’s daughter. After watching the safety video, she went to the part of the venue called ‘stepping stones’, which ends with a jump into a foam pit.

But when Jodie jumped into the pit, she hit the bottom and screamed in agony.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where x-rays revealed she had suffered a pilon fracture – involving her leg and ankle joint – and required surgery.

Recently, two former owners of another Flip Out trampoline park in Chester were handed 250 hours of community service and a fine after pleading guilty to health and safety violations after 11 people broke their backs.

She said: “Trampoline parks are still a real danger. People need to be aware. I visited a Flip Out for a day trip last year but ended up having to stay in the area for three months as I was left unable to walk.

“I am still in pain most days and have been told my symptoms are likely to be for life.”

Senior Associate Solicitor at Express Solicitors, Paul Stanley, who worked on the case, said: “Businesses that offer potentially risky activities such as trampoline parks have a duty of care to keep their customers safe while on premises. If a parent or child is injured during a day out on the trampolines they can still make a claim even if they sign a waiver form.”
